Experience:
Ms. Chavez offers 11 years of experience working on various roadway, drainage and public works construction projects. She was previously employed by Los Alamos County (LAC), City of Santa Fe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
In her capacity as a Highway Engineer for the BIA, Ms. Chavez was involved in the design, review and construction management of roadway and bridge projects. These projects included extensive roadway drainage and right-of-way issues. She also reviewed project plans and specifications prior to bid and award of the projects.
Ms. Chavez, as an Engineering Project Manager for LAC, oversaw the design, review and construction management, which included the bidding and award phase, of numerous projects. These projects included several drainage, roadway, disaster emergency, building and site development projects.
She managed the design and construction of projects from Study and Report phase to the Bidding and Negotiation through Final Acceptance of the projects.
She was also responsible for the preparation of bid packages and the County’s portion of the technical specifications for Invitation for Bid (IFB) and Request for Proposals (RFP).
Ms. Chavez was the County Engineer’s lead person on all the projects assigned to her and had the authority to approve and recommend pay applications, change orders, field orders and cost proposals up to the approved project budgets.
